ALERT: June 2013 Gahanna Police Report

Attached please find the Monthly Report from the Gahanna Police Department. You will notice 3 incidents occurred in our neighborhood! If we want to feel safe, we need to be on the look out for odd cars and people in our area and contact the GPD at 342-4240 if anything looks strange. Use your security system… or get one. Use timers for interior lights and use outside lights at night. If you are taking a vacation or trip, let your neighbors know and complete a vacation watch with the GPD. We have to help each other out.

The Villages of Gahanna Homeowners Association is still trying to follow up with folks who’ve not contributed this year. We need to be able to pay for the maintenance of the entrances and we are working to replace signs announcing “Villages of Gahanna” at our 5 entrances. Your $20 also helps pay for our website and the advertising of the annual garage sale. Flyers will soon be again distributed.

On that same thought, does anyone know a reasonable sign maker or have ideas on how to get us inexpensive signs installed? If yes, please call me to discuss? It would really be great for visibility and neighborhood pride to get some signs up again.

2013 Annual Meeting Recap

On Monday April 22, the Villages of Gahanna Homeowners Association held our annual residents meeting. All present introduced themselves.

Mayor Becky Stinchcomb spoke on Issue 4 regarding the Income Tax issue that is on the City of Gahanna ballot for May 7. Plenty of details can be found on the City of Gahanna website: http://www.gahanna.gov/taxreform.aspx.  Language on the actual ballot can be misleading, so she encourages everyone review the web site information and use the tax calculator to see how your family might be affected. She was gracious enough to answer all our questions.

VOGHA Treasurer Donna Simmons reviewed our bank account, contribution receipts so far and current and expected expenses.  If you have not sent her your annual contribution of $20.00, please do so as soon as possible to her or through PayPal on our website:  https://vogha.org/ .  You can also follow us on Facebook there too!

Maintenance and repairs at our 5 entrances was discussed.  We’ve contracted Winnscapes to do the cleanup and mulch again this year.  What we’d really also like to do is install new signs at all the entrances to our development.  Kristine Provan, new board member, has volunteered to research to find possible sign ideas.  If anyone has suggestions, please contact me?

Kacy Bonaventura has volunteered to be the chairperson for our annual neighborhood garage sale.  More information as to dates will be coming soon!

Finally, the residents were asked if there was anyone who wanted to join the VOGHA Board or make any changes in the Board makeup.  No one opposed so the current Board will continue.

Attached you will find the April City of Gahanna Police report.  If you have questions or comments on it, please contact them directly.

Gahanna Police Report – January 2013

Please find attached Gahanna PD’s JANUARY GPD Report 2013.  If you have questions on it, please contact them directly.  As always, if you see anything suspicious in our neighborhood, please call the GPD at 342-4240 to report your concerns. Chief Murphy has promised they will respond.  If you have an incident where you feel response was questionable, let me know so I can share with him.

We’ve had a few residents comment about speeding.  Several neighbors are concerned about speeding while a few have received citations.  My suggestion?  Please observe the posted limits.

A reminder from the City as well; it is city code to keep sidewalks cleared of snow.  For safety and neighborliness, please make efforts to keep your sidewalks cleared of snow/ice.

October 2012 Police Report

Attached is the Gahanna Police Department OCTOBER 2012 Report.  If you have questions on this contact them directly at 342-4240.

As you can see, we’ve been hit in our neighborhood by household break-ins during the day(!?).  Any thoughts/suggestions on how to prevent these invasions would be appreciated.  I have asked GPD Chief Murphy to increase patrols in the area and he’s agreed.  Keep in mind if you see something unusual, don’t be afraid to call the GPD at 342-4240.  You can make the call anonymous if you want.  We need to help and look out for each other.  If you have questions, please let me know!

ALSO, I got the following comment from a recent victim of a break-in: “The officer who came to my house after the robbery stated residents need to respond to someone knocking on your door, even if you scream “go away” to let them know you are home. I know in the past I ignored all knocks at my door but will now be yelling ‘go away’…..”

Holiday Schedules and Gahanna Info
For those interested, a lot of valuable info is available on the City of Gahanna website http://www.gahanna.gov/ regarding city finances and planning as well as the upcoming holiday schedules!

Next week is Halloween (October 31 from 6-8), please be careful and watch out for little ones.

FYI, the City of Gahanna does NOT pick up loose piles of leaves left curbside or in the street.  All yard waste should be paper bagged and Rumpke Waste will pick up on the Monday pickup.

Thanks to those who have helped maintain the entrances to our neighborhood.  We plan to have a Fall Clean-up done soon.

September 2012 Police Report and Update

Please find attached the September Gahanna Police Department Report.  If you have questions on it, please contact them directly.  And anytime you see anything suspicious in our neighborhood, please contact our police.  They want to help.

The City of Gahanna has asked me to remind everyone that as Fall approaches and the tree leaves come down, homeowners are to bag leaves and put the bags curbside on Monday mornings.  Do not pile leaves curbside or in the street- they will not pick up.
