On Monday April 22, the Villages of Gahanna Homeowners Association held our annual residents meeting. All present introduced themselves.
Mayor Becky Stinchcomb spoke on Issue 4 regarding the Income Tax issue that is on the City of Gahanna ballot for May 7. Plenty of details can be found on the City of Gahanna website: http://www.gahanna.gov/taxreform.aspx. Language on the actual ballot can be misleading, so she encourages everyone review the web site information and use the tax calculator to see how your family might be affected. She was gracious enough to answer all our questions.
VOGHA Treasurer Donna Simmons reviewed our bank account, contribution receipts so far and current and expected expenses. If you have not sent her your annual contribution of $20.00, please do so as soon as possible to her or through PayPal on our website: https://vogha.org/ . You can also follow us on Facebook there too!
Maintenance and repairs at our 5 entrances was discussed. We’ve contracted Winnscapes to do the cleanup and mulch again this year. What we’d really also like to do is install new signs at all the entrances to our development. Kristine Provan, new board member, has volunteered to research to find possible sign ideas. If anyone has suggestions, please contact me?
Kacy Bonaventura has volunteered to be the chairperson for our annual neighborhood garage sale. More information as to dates will be coming soon!
Finally, the residents were asked if there was anyone who wanted to join the VOGHA Board or make any changes in the Board makeup. No one opposed so the current Board will continue.
Attached you will find the April City of Gahanna Police report. If you have questions or comments on it, please contact them directly.

This year’s guest speaker is Gahanna Mayor Becky Stinchcomb. In this timely Q&A, the mayor will discuss Issue 4, which will appear on the May 7 ballot. The proposal is to change the income tax rate in Gahanna from 1.5% to 2.5%. Learn how this vote will impact your income as a resident of Gahanna, and how the additional funds will be used within the city.

As you can see, we’ve been hit in our neighborhood by household break-ins during the day(!?). Any thoughts/suggestions on how to prevent these invasions would be appreciated. I have asked GPD Chief Murphy to increase patrols in the area and he’s agreed. Keep in mind if you see something unusual, don’t be afraid to call the GPD at 342-4240. You can make the call anonymous if you want. We need to help and look out for each other. If you have questions, please let me know!
ALSO, I got the following comment from a recent victim of a break-in: “The officer who came to my house after the robbery stated residents need to respond to someone knocking on your door, even if you scream “go away” to let them know you are home. I know in the past I ignored all knocks at my door but will now be yelling ‘go away’…..”
